Identify malaria cases in the Fatick region from an open cohort set up in 1990 for Dielmo and in 1993 for Ndiop. The objectives are as follows: 1- Identify a threshold (level) of parasite carriage which determines the occurrence of malaria and which varies according to the level of transmission of the disease (endemic or seasonal); 2- Evaluate the impact of the introduction of new drugs and impregnated mosquito nets on disease transmission; 3-Monitor the sensitivity of parasites to drugs and mosquitoes to insecticides.
The 4S network is part of the strengthening of the influenza sentinel surveillance activities carried out by the Pasteur Institute in Dakar (IPD) in partnership with the Ministry of Health since 2012. This tool, complementary to traditional surveillance, helps `` identify unusual health events earlier and provide a quicker response. Supported by funding from the US Department of Health (DHHS), the system is based on the principle of syndromic surveillance targeting, in addition to influenza-like illnesses, other syndromes linked to febrile pathologies of public health interest in Senegal.
BIRDY Multicenter Research Program on Bacterial Infections in Newborns and Young Children in Resource-Limited Countries. Severe bacterial infections are a cause of death in children under the age of five, and especially during the first week of life. The main thing of BIRDY is to become infected with neonatal and multi-resistant infections and their consequences in 3 countries: Senegal, Cambodia and Madagascar. In Senegal, the NAFY project: NAtt Febaru tut tank Yii (assessment of diseases of toddlers) concerns 600 children included in urban (Guédiawaye) and rural (Sokone) areas.
The Hepatitis B (HBV) Birth Vaccination in Africa (NEOVAC) project is a multidisciplinary (3 components: epidemiological, anthropological and economic) and multi-site (Senegal, Burkina Faso and Madagascar) study. While since 2009 WHO has recommended HBV vaccination within 24 hours of birth with a non-combined vaccine to prevent mother-to-child transmission, few African countries have implemented this vaccination. Even when the vaccine is made available to health facilities, it is rarely administered within 24 hours for various reasons.
The project seeks to improve the management of moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) by acting on intestinal infections and by exploring the interactions between malnutrition and modification of the intestinal microbiota. This pragmatic, randomized, open, multicenter trial is taking place in 4 countries: Madagascar, Central African Republic, Niger and Senegal. In total, 840 children suffering from moderate acute malnutrition receive three re-nutrition strategies by drawing lots: conventional flour, flour + antibiotic; flour + prebiotics. The expected duration of participation is 6 months, i.e.
