Public health activities
Activities revolve around (1) surveillance of yellow fever As part of the WHO network of yellow fever laboratories, (2) surveillance of arboviruses in Culicidian fauna and wild vertebrates and (3) diagnosis of suspected cases of arboviruses and viral haemorrhagic fevers.
Expertise activities:
In the area of expertise, the UAVFH participates in epidemic surveys at the request of the ministries of health of different countries, the WHO and WAHO. An example, on the May Cite recent Ebola epidemics (Guinea), Zika (Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau), yellow fever (Angola, DRC), dengue (Burkina Faso and Senegal), fever in the Rift Valley (Niger). One of the embodiments of yellow fever risk assessment on-demand services and advisory missions for the surveillance of air traffic issues. The unit produces and distributes non-marketable reagents for the diagnosis of arboviruses and participates in consultations with the Order of National Laboratories
