Metabolic diseases such as diabetes, dyslipidemia, but also renal failure, liver failure or cardiac pathologies have become much more frequent, justifying requests for targeted explorations to optimize the medical management of patients.
A fasting period of at least 8 hours is essential for the determination of blood glucose. Similarly, a period of fasting of 12 hours is necessary for a lipid assessment (determination of triglycerides, cholesterol). It is however possible to drink a glass of water.
For the other tests, a fasting period of at least 8 hours is recommended but not mandatory. Otherwise, limit yourself to a light meal, low in fat.
